Here is my research paper:

How To Take Care Of A Puppy

by Luke Hicks

My family just recently got a new puppy. He is a black lab/red pit. We had a hard time naming it but we decided "Grim Griffin" as his name. Why don't I give you a few tips on how to take care of one of your own?

Dogs need affection and love from you or they will feel left out of the "pack". For example, take them for walks daily, or even twice. Also, don't keep them outside for long, unless if they have a dog friend in your neighbors back yard. If they don't they will feel like this:

How sad.

Untrained dogs are often punished for their improper behavior. Be the one to train your dog. You are the one who will need to know how to communicate with him. By communicate, I mean know when he has to use the bathroom.

Good books on how to take care of a dog includes A Well-Trained Dog by Deborah A. Jones, The Power of Positive Dog Training by Pat Miller, and, For Solving Dog Behavioral Problems, If Only They Could Speak, Dogs Behavin Much, all by Nicholas Dodman.g Badly, and The Dog Who Loved Too Much.

Puppies should be taken out at least once every two hours to "do their business" for about 3 min. (or within a half hour after eating or drinking) and guided to the same spot where they can smell where they have been before. Take your adult dog out for at least 4 times a day for about 6 minutes.

Dogs are most comfortable wearing a harness, not a collar, when they are out walking. Collars can choke and be painful and injure your dog. Harnesses have soft padding and the dog will want to walk.

Taking care of a puppy is hard. But if you follow these few steps it will be as easy as 1, 2, SQUIRREL!

This last weekend my family got a NEW dog. We named him  "Grim Griffin" and he was born 2-27-15. He's more well behaved than Amber and she was born in October. Grim is annoying, though. He whines every few minutes. But he is cute.

Today I had to work  in the storage taking the boxes out to home so we could have a garage sale. Yipee. That was sarcastic. We need a garage sale so we could get money for trips we need to go on.

My dog, Amber, hasn't been eating lately and we just figured out why. She has a little relationship with our neighbor's dog, Trooper, and now they won't eat without each other. Amber also taught Trooper to open the gate. Those two little crazy dogs!

I had lots of fun on Easter Sunday. Especially from the Easter egg hunt. The girls hid for the boys, they didn't do a good job, the boys found all the eggs, and the boys hid for the girls, they couldn't find 2 eggs, boys won. But enough about Easter and onto my first day of homeschool yesterday. I got to wear pajamas all day and I only did 3 subjects and the rest of the day was mine. Hallalujah!
